"He's the kiss of death. If you're playing cards and he comes up behind you, even brushes your shoulder, you're done. Just pack in your cards and go home. I've never seen a jinx like that in my life." Brad Pitt on pal George Clooney's gambling curse.

Joel added: "We're not all that conscious of pressure about each new film trying to outdo the rest. We're really quite fatalistic about that kind of thing. For us, the real challenge is simply to keep working, and to keep trying different kinds of things. Actor Bruce Willis is irritated with his outspoken actors, for he thinks that their opinion means nothing to the general public. The 'Die Hard' actor believes that actors only fool themselves into believing that their opinion means something because they act. "I don't think my opinion means jack s**t, because I'm an actor. Why do actors think their opinions mean more because you act? You just caught a break as an actor," Contactmusic quoted him, as saying. Willis also said that of late, he hasn't heard anything useful from an actor's mouth. "Have you heard anything useful come out of an actor's mouth lately," he said. However, the actor admitted that he liked George Clooney's documentary on Darfur "Although I liked George Clooney's documentary on Darfur," he said.
For two years in the late 1990s, Martin played medical student Lucy Knight in the hit medical drama ER. It shot her to international fame and saw her work alongside television's original "Dr McDreamy", George Clooney. Understandably, Martin still gushes about that period. "I loved working with George," she says. "He is one of the greatest guys you'll ever meet and working in ER was a fantastic experience. "It was a tough show to work on (because) they shoot about 12 pages a day, which is a lot. So sometimes it's hard to keep up."
"I applaud myself for not having to be around Clooney and all those pretty guys... I got to do my heist movie, The Italian Job, and... I didn't have to stand in George's shadow." - Mark Wahlberg, on turning down a part in Ocean's Eleven. (Edmonton Sun)

Blanchett has nothing but praise for Clooney who even, apparently, curbed his traditional habit of playing pranks on his co-stars. "No, he was quite a gentleman," she says. "But he's the best dinner party guest in the world. Try and shut George up!" she laughs. "But he's hilarious. "He's got such a great perspective on what he does, and thinks in such a unique way. And he's grown up with politics. It was absolutely fascinating to me, spending time with him, and just his insight, basically, into the American political system." (Citizen)

Just wipe out and bring him down with me." --Thandie Newton, currently starring in Norbit, on her idea of a memorable red carpet moment. (Thanks to Clooney Network)
All eyes may be on the glamour and glitz of what Hollywood's leading ladies are wearing at the Oscars this weekend, but don't be fooled into thinking the male A-listers haven't put a lot of effort into their outfits. "I don't know how much I need to be in front of the camera yet, but if I can live without it I think I'd prefer to slide into a more (producing role)," [George] Lopez says. He adds that he admires George Clooney for stepping away from roles to make independent films. "I like what he does. And I think that there's an opportunity to do that for us: Movies that are made for families. We need to build the family back. At last, being Second Becky has paid off! Sarah Chalke started out here in her home town, working as a kid. Her first on-camera kiss was in the 1992 movie City Boy, shot at Lighthouse Park. Chalke got her first big break in 1997 when Roseanne Barr hired her to take the place of Alicia Goranson, who played her TV daughter Becky, on Roseanne. Chalke later came back to Vancouver to star in the Canadian series, Nothing Too Good For a Cowboy and, in 2001, landed her breakthrough role as Dr. Elliot Reid on Scrubs. Recently, at the Golden Globes, that unheralded Becky thing finally paid off. In the press room, George Clooney, who also had a small part on Roseanne at one time, shouted hello at Chalke, then came over and gave her a big hug. Must have made being Second Becky all worthwhile. Q: A friendly dispute for you to settle. Which person holds the record for the most Academy Award nominations in a single year? A friend believes it is George Clooney from last year. I think it is someone further in the past, such as Orson Welles or Clint Eastwood.
A: If I could have the envelope please. And the winner for Most Academy Award Nominations in a Single Year goes to Francis Ford Coppola, with a record five nominations in 1974. In addition to picking up the Oscars for Best Picture, Director and Adapted Screenplay with The Godfather: Part II, Sofia's dad was also nommed for Best Picture and Original Screenplay for the under-rated classic The Conversation. George Clooney was nominated three times at last year's Oscars, in connection with Syriana, and Good Night, and Good Luck.

HOWEVER, with the emergence of this more serious self, the actor whom [Leonardo] DiCaprio appears to be emulating most is George Clooney. The star of Ocean's Eleven makes no secret of the fact that his acting career matters to him only in so far as it gives him a platform for airing the other things that are important to him – the crisis in Sudan and US foreign policy in Africa, for example. He is successful enough to command some of the highest fees in Hollywood and rich enough to only accept roles that interest him. DiCaprio is virtually at the same stage now. (Daily Express)
On a lighter note, she [Cate Blanchett] described her co-star, George Clooney, as an 'amazing collaborator' who mischievously pretended to be her for a day during filming. (Straits Times)
Later in the conversation, with the prefatory disclaimer that he knew he’d sound like a name-dropping douchebag for saying so, [Joe] Carnahan went ahead and said, “Clooney once told me, 'I think I’ve got maybe just another five years of being Clooney.’ I think he’s being too modest. But, the point is we all have a shelf life. It’s what we do with that time that matters.” Clooney--that’s George, of course--is to star in a forthcoming, sky-high-profile Carnahan project, so the filmmaker must be doing something right with his shelf life. In Newsweeks Oscar Roundtable held at The Egyptian Theatre Brad Pitt explained what acting meant to him.
PITT: Acting is really a team sport. A lot of times one actor will become the MVP, but just like in tennis, your game is elevated if you're playing with someone better. I mean, just look at the way Cate compensated for George Clooney in "The Good German." [Laughter]
Note: This is probably one of the best interviews/discussions I've read in a long time I highly recommend that you go to the source and read the complete artilcle. Brad Pitt was joined by five other actors: Cate Blanchett, Forest Whitaker, Helen Mirren, Penelope Cruz and Leonardo DiCaprio. It is long but definitely worth it. Sure, he [Barack Obama] is on easy street at the moment -- and not really tested politically -- but he oozes charisma. In fact for just plain sex appeal, Obama is right up there with George Clooney. Last April he shared a press conference with the Hollywood actor to elevate the crisis in Darfur. They had to shut the doors to the room of the National Press Club leaving many young women bereft outside. They had come to see Clooney but it was Obama who carried the room. I asked him afterwards if he outdid Clooney. "Man, I'm just a dim lightbulb compared to that guy." (The Australian)
Patrick Goldstein, the Los Angeles Times' film industry columnist, bemoans the decline in standards. "I confess that as I watched George Clooney work the circuit last year, suavely wooing star-struck journalists to build buzz for Good Night, and Good Luck, the main thing going through my head was: Why is he wasting all that energy on a movie when he could be running for a Senate seat?" Goldstein wrote. (The Australian)
